Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City is like a melting pot of Asia. It is not strange that you can have a lot of food choices in this city. Today we’re not introducing to you a place of Vietnamese cuisine, but an iconic dish from Japanese – ramen and a favorite place of us to try it.
We wanted to keep this place as a secret between me and my girlfriend. However, after starting Saigon Easy Steps blog, I see the happiness of sharing, then we decided to unveil this. The place is “Osaka Ramen”, locates in 64 Nguyen Thoi Trung, Ward 6, District 5. There will be more people here in the sunset and during weekend so you may need to wait for the table, but it won’t take long.
THE SIGNATURE DISH
This restaurant serves many Japanese dishes, but the star is Ramen, we often call Osaka Ramen and Tonkatsu for a side dish. I don’t want to compare this with Japan’s original Ramen but to me, it is very delicious. The broth is really delicious to me but to some people, it might be a bit salty, you can try it yourself. The wheat noodles is chewy and juicy, the texture is really bouncing it can create a fun experience when you eat it. For the topping, we have sliced pork, seaweed, egg yolk, green onion and sweet corn in our bowls of Osaka Ramen, which make a super great combination.
Beside of Ramen, the restaurant also has a lot of options in the menu. Some options like: Oyakodon (Fried chicken) with Teriyaki or Kimchi, Katsudon (Fried pork with egg). Rice with stir fried beef, Mazesoba with ground beef, Udon, Hot pot…
This restaurant is not like the popular Japanese food chains in Saigon. It has its own unique style and tradition so we always feel special eating here. It’s a highly recommended place from us, hope you have great time here. Side note, it is a bit hot inside, but an iced soda will make it okay!
